Not only will you save yourself the "making" costs but it will also boost your confidence and you will gain a wealth of creative satisfaction.
Our homes reflect our personalities and lifestyles. Using your personal creativity, the correct design and colour, your handmade curtains and roman blinds can give a totally new look and feel to your home.
From the course you will learn the following:
• How to measure a window accurately (most important)
• How to calculate, cut and seam match a patterned fabric
• How to interline a curtain to create weight, a luxurious feel and retain warmth
during those winter months
• How to cut, join and attach lining widths to curtains
• Learn about creating a selection of curtain headings and how trimmings can
enhance and add detail to curtains
• The course is designated to give you a specific education in the importance and
relevance of hand stitching curtains.
A one day session concentrates on creating your own sample curtain finished with a triple pleat and a goblet style heading. For this all materials will be provided.
From the course you will learn the following:
• How to measure inside and outside the recess depending on where you wish to hang
your roman blind. This can be tricky and needs to take into account any obstacles
such as window handles, beams etc
• How to calculate, cut and pattern match fabric
• How to interline and line a roman blind
• How to calculate the cascading folds and add trim and decorative pelmets
• How to hang roman blinds using the traditional batten method or the latest velcro
faced metal tracking with chain side winding mechanism
A one day session concentrates on creating a miniature sample roman blind for you to take away for future reference. For this all materials will be provided.
One to One workshops run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
A light lunch is included.
